Living a long, healthy life requires more than following the latest fad diet, consuming the most recent weight loss product, or participating in whatever happens to be the current exercise craze. In fact, it would be in anyone’s best interest to not do any of those things without thorough research into the reliability of the advertised plan or product.

Instead, people should choose to make healthy living a lifestyle choice that encompasses their physical, spiritual, and mental health. Anyone can establish bad habits, but the same strategy applies to initiate and implement good habits. For instance, swap potato chips or other snack food for carrot sticks or apple slices. Rather than settling in for a marathon session in front of the television, take a walk or visit the gym. Turn off the depressing news and concentrate on something that lessens anxiety and creates joy and appreciation for life. Little lifestyle changes now can improve a person’s capacity to live a longer, healthier life.
